Ujjain, which is also known as Avanti, Ujain or Avantikapuri, is a popular tourist destination and district located in Madhya Pradesh. Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple:

This temple is one among the 12 Joytirlingas located across India. Here the lingam is believed to be born by itself near the lake and belong to the prehistoric period.

Kalabhairav Temple
Located on the bank of River Shipra, this is an other popular temple, which is also believed to be the manifestation of Lord Shiva. Kalabhairav is believed to be the protector of travelers.

Jantar Mantar:

Jantar Mantar was built by Raja Jai Singh in 17th century. This is the center of learning and astronomical observatory. All the instruments found in this library are made by Raja Jai Singh.  According to the present calculation, Ujjain is located just 3 km from Tropic of Cancer and this is the region why the king chooses to construct this observatory here.

Kaliadeh Palace

This is an other popular attraction of Ujjain built by Sultans of Mandu in 1458 AD. You can find the early literary works in this ancient construction. There is also a sun temple situated in this palace.

Chintaman Ganesh Temple

This Ganesh temple is considered to be the biggest in the city built across River Shipra. This temple has much historical and religious importance to say.

Harsiddhi Temple:

This is the most popular ancient shrine in India with colored idol of Goddess Annapurna, placed between Goddess Saraswathi and Goddess Lakshmi. This temple also exhibits beautiful Maratha artistry in a unique architectural style.

Gadkalika Temple

This temple is 2 miles from Ujjain located near Bhartrihari caves. This is an ancient temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Kaali. This temple is where poet Kalidasa was believed to worship Kaali. This temple was renovated in 7AD by the Indian Emperor Harshavardhana.
