Chhattisgarh is one of the 29 states in India which was recently formed in the year 2000. With a total area of 135191 km2 it is the 10th largest state in the country. Chhattisgarh is located more or less the centre-east of India with UP in its north, Telangana to its south, Odhisa to its south-east, Maharashtra in the south-west and MP in the north-west. Raipur is the capital of the state.

The state claims to be the house of 36 forts which reflects in its name but so far all 36 forts have not yet been located. It is famous for its Bhilai steel plant SAIL and houses large industries in aluminum, coal, electricity, tea and several minerals.
